This hand is your hand...

Not really. It's mine. The bad news is that I have tendonitis in more than one tendon in my right wrist. The good news is that I don't have to have surgery for it. The bad news is I am typing with my left hand and have to wear a brace 24/7. The good news is that my career isn't over because it will heal.

I thought about doing a "best of Microfamous" so my blog wouldn't stagnate, but decided against it. You can read the archives if you feel inclined. I have lots to say about the past week and how my mind jumped from "my wrist freaking hurts" to "I'll be homeless if I can't work," but because I have to limit computer time I'm going to have to tell you all about that later. So expect shorter posts for the next week or so....that is, if I don't go insane from taking steroids, sleeping with a splint on my wrist, or not being able to write by hand.

And Universe? Thanks for being so understanding about my bitching and moaning. I know this is nothing in your grand scheme and could be a million times worse. You must know I adore you and would never take you for granted. Once again, Universe, I owe you one.

  1. Yikes. I'm so sorry to hear about this. But very glad it will heal.

Maybe you could try using your cell phone for audio blogs? Or start a podcast or something?

  2. And I feel your pain. Just do what the docs and/or physical terrorists - I mean - therapists tell you to do/not do. I spent three months in a brace for tendonitis in my elbow that was pressing on a nerve. Took almost a year to heal properly, so be patient.

  3. Fewer posts? I won't be able to get my midday fix of comedy and criticism. I'm already sullen, because your words won't be there to make me laugh.

Hope all heals well and it doesn't take too much of your time away from writing.

  4. Kelly! You're not supposed to be typing! You're like someone who just had surgery on their larnyx who's not supposed to talk, but does anyway. Put down the keyboard, missy!

  5. Well, you could always retain a cabin boy with typing skills and dictate to him as you composed essays in your head...

  6. I SWEAR I am typing left handed. With two fingers, sometimes three.

  7. what about audio posts?? You're one of my addictions! What am I going to do?? Smoke more?? You're ruining my health! (kidding, I'm doing that on my own)

  8. Yes, I agree with janetlee. I had tendonitis too and it takes a reeeeaaallllyyyyy long time to heal, like she said, a year, but it doesn't hurt as bad the whole time. So do indeed be patient.

  9. Audio posts will come after I figure out how to: wash dishes with one hand (I refuse to own a dishwasher), shave in the shower (can't stabilize self and use sharp object at the same time), and hire someone (thanks for the cabin boy idea, JZ!) to write down all of my thoughts and whims. Seriously y'all, only three days on steroids and I now have 2 pain-free fingers in my right hand. Blogging isn't a necessity for me, but writing is and I'm glad to be healing so quickly.

  10. I am all for the audioblogging, Kel. You have a very lovely voice.

(And this is totally hypocritical of me, because I don't think I will ever, EVER get into the audioblogging thing myself. I much prefer the written to the spoken word, especially if I'm the speaker.)
