I dare you to post a photo of YOUR high school boyfriend...

This my high school boyfriend and (I'm pretty sure) the first guy I was in love with. Here's my Top 10 List about...let's call him Mark (because that's his name).

1. Mark was 25 and I was 16 when this picture was taken.
2. I told my mom he was 21.
3. I met him at a Plasmatics concert and he introduced me to Wendy O. Williams. My initial attraction: He was wearing fingerless gloves and a leather jacket.
4. He did not sport a mullet, contrary to what it looks like in this photo. He had spiked hair (a la Billy Idol) and was a metalhead punk, not a redneck.
5. He washed his hair with Ivory soap.
6. He was a roadie for bands like Megadeth and Anthrax.
7. We broke up because he made out with a girl named Heather, who was so scared when I threatened to kick her ass that she switched schools.
8. I've, um, "run into him" a couple of times over the years - once when I was engaged and once when I was living with someone. I made out with him both times, once on the hood of my car.
9. The last time I saw him I was 25. He told me I was the love of his life.
10. I still think about him every time I smell leather and Ivory soap.

Sigh.

  1. Jackie - Thanks for the compliment! I can't explain him looking older (though why my mother believed he was 21 is beyond me...), but me looking older is probably the ton of makeup and inch-thick black eyeliner. However, if you look really closely, you can see I still had my BRACES on!

  2. Heh. I knew you couldn't resist posting this on your blog someday. Now I'll have to dig out a picture of one of my high school boyfriends so I can join the club!!

  3. You must be the only person who looks hot in her first boyfriend picture. Everyone else looks like a walking pimple with puffy sleeves (Bitch).

However, I wonder if he has any lingering guilt about corrupting a sweet and pure 16-year old child. He should. Perv. He may have been haute, but your mom should have had him killed.

  4. Isn't it great to look at those pictures and the "love of your life" when you were 16 and 17? I don't think I ever "loved" so intensely...at least I thought it was love.

  5. Can I just say? - Ahahahaha! (Not in a mocking way, of course. But more like in a Right there with ya sort of way.)

  6. Ahhh, Kelly, I know just what you were feeling when you typed that word Sigh. I NEVER got over my high school boyfriend, the great love of my life. Finally tracked him down through Google, had a brief email affair (he's married), ended up married to his younger brother (my OTHER great love). Now he's my brother-in-law, and I'm STILL crazy in love with him. Always will be. Sigh.
