All work and no play...

Charlie called today to tell me that he's on day number 3 of being ice and snowed-in in Austin because of the freaky weather. He's bored. I'm jealous. He wants to get in his car and go somewhere. I want to be snowed in.

I want to have to stay home all day and eat cheese toast and paint my toenails. I have a stack of books I'm dying to read, long baths to take, non-work-related writing to do, thoughts to ponder while I stare at the cracks in the plaster. Charlie thinks he's about a day or so away from turning into Jack Torrance. I would pay a million dollars to build a maze of ice in my back yard and run screaming through the empty hallways of my isolated mountaintop hotel.

There is hope. I hear the ice and snow might be headed our way. Cross your fingers and say it with me: "Redrum...REDRUM!"

"Darling. Light, of my life. I'm not gonna hurt ya. You didn't let me finish my sentence. I said, I'm not gonna hurt ya. I'm just gonna bash your brains in."~Jack Torrance

  1. It better not. I'm coming home and I want it HOT! I fancy a little snowin, but not when I'm about to corset myself into a strapless dress in potential 20-degree weather. Oh damn, damn, damn...I knew this whole thing was a mistake.

  2. Hmmmm. Kelly, you realize that with snow in the South Carolina comes empty grocery stores and gas stations, nutters in mass Apocalyptic panic, and about a 95% chance of power outages at your home and all surrounding hotels, right?

As someone who's still mentally recovering from the "snow in the South" thing three years ago, and the accompanying four DAYS without power, I can honestly say I will not shed a damn tear if that storm misses the Georgia/Carolina corridor.

  3. I think it will warm up just for you, Jem! Seriously, we just had a little freezing rain. No big.

Mir - you have no idea how much the idea of mass Apocalyptic panic appeals to me (and what a great name for a band that would be). But I think it's going to pass us by.
